SUMMARY:PH x Teens: Behind The Scenes with a Poster House Curator
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes when a curator is preparing a museum exhibition? Poster House invites you to learn more in a hands-on workshop led by our Assistant Curator of Collections\, Es-pranza Humphrey\, in which we will explore how to conduct research\, select posters\, and tell a compelling story through design. \nAfterward\, students will get the chance to test their new skills by workshopping a show of their own based on our upcoming exhibition\, The Subway Sun! Snacks and drinks will be provided. This is not a drop-in program\, please check-in by 3:30pm for the start of the session at 3:45pm.  \nPH x Teens is a program for young adults ages 13 to 18 focusing on drop-in art activities and college and career prep. \nAccessibility Note: Masks and clear masks are available free of charge at the museum. Assistive listening devices and stools are available. SUMMARY:Legacy of Inspiration: The Black Fives & Nike
DESCRIPTION:The award-winning author\, historian\, and Black Fives brand creator Claude Johnson will discuss the history of the early African American basketball teams depicted on his iconic “Legacy of Inspiration” sneaker collaboration with Nike in 2003–04. He will also talk about  how that collab came to be\, his own experiences at Nike as a product line manager in its branded basketball-apparel group\, and\, of course\, those limited-edition styles themselves\, including Air Force Is\, IIs\, and IIIs\, Dunk Highs and Lows\, Vandal Highs and Lows\, and Blazers. Johnson\, whose 2022 book\, The Black Fives: The Epic Story of Basketball’s Forgotten Era\, won the Museum of African American History’s Stone Book Award\, remains the only historian ever to obtain a sneaker deal. \nAccessibility Note: This program will be livestreamed on Poster House’s Youtube Channel.
