SUMMARY:ASL Night: ASL SLAM—Poster House Edition
DESCRIPTION:Poster House presents a special edition of ASL SLAM. In conjunction with the exhibition The Future Was Then: The Changing Face of Fascist Italy\, ASL SLAM will highlight the strength of artistic community\, expression\, and communication as forces of resistance to oppression. \nThis evening will feature experimental forms of sign-language literature and performance that explore how we perceive ourselves and one another. \nFor more than a decade\, ASL SLAM has invited members of the signing community to step on stage and break free from the daily constraints of language. Through vivid imagery and literary prompts\, performers and audience members alike transform personal experience into bold\, unrestrained forms of expression. \nThis program will be hosted by Zavier Sabio\, and will feature performances by Darren Fudenske\, Kailyn Aaron-Lozano\, and Bellamie Bachleda. \n \nPlease note: while this event will be performed in American Sign Language\, everyone is welcome. \nThis event is part of an evening celebrating members and artists of the signing community.
