SUMMARY:Members-Only Tour: Munich 1972
DESCRIPTION:Poster House members are invited to a private tour of the exhibition Munich 1972: Sports Posters of the XXth Olympic Games. Join Guest Curator Michael Beirut as he discusses the design program created for the 1972 Munich Olympics. Usually attributed to a single visionary creative director\, Otl Aicher\, the scheme was\, in fact\, produced by a team of designers who worked tirelessly on every detail of it for nearly six years. Their work for the event became an influential model not only for the design of subsequent sporting events but also for comprehensive identity programs of every kind. Together\, these posters demonstrate a magically calibrated balance of consistency and surprise\, control and power\, and precision and exuberance: no less than the athletes they celebrate. Light refreshments will be provided. \nAccessibility Note: Masks and clear masks are available free of charge at the museum. Assistive listening devices and stools are available. ASL (American Sign Language) interpretation or a CART (Communication Access Realtime Translation) is available upon request. Please contact access@posterhouse.org or (914) 295-2387 to request interpretation services and to address any other accessibility needs.
