SUMMARY:Members-Only Tour: Last Look of Leaving the Smoke Behind
DESCRIPTION:Poster House Members are invited to a private “Last Look” tour of the exhibition Leaving the Smoke Behind: Enjoying an Awayday. Join curator Tim Medland as he discusses works  from the golden age of London Passenger Transport Board posters and the effort to encourage off-peak travel across the wider network (and thus drive up revenues for underutilized lines) through these eye-catching and attractive designs. These vividly colored posters frequently juxtaposed the inherent grayness of inner-city London with vibrant images of areas  just a short Tube ride away. Light refreshments will be provided. \nAccessibility Note: Masks and clear masks are available free of charge at the museum. Assistive listening devices and stools are available. ASL (American Sign Language) interpretation or a CART (Communication Access Realtime Translation) is available upon request. Please contact access@posterhouse.org or (914) 295-2387 to request interpretation services and to address any other accessibility needs.
