Election Day Educator Professional Development: We Tried to Warn You!
9:30am–2:30pm
Join Poster House for its first Election Day, with special guest Materials for the Arts (MFTA)! This teacher professional development will focus on Poster House’s new exhibition, We Tried to Warn You! Environmental Crisis Posters, 1970–2020. Participate in a guided tour of the show, and learn more about bringing environmental justice posters back into the classroom with our Posters in Protest Educator Guide. Guests will then participate in a hands-on artmaking workshop with MFTA Master Teaching Artist Joy Suarez, focusing on sustainability, creative reuse, and activism. Educators will leave with classroom-ready materials and new ideas and strategies for integrating posters and sustainable artmaking into their curricula. Participants will also learn more about educational programming and warehouse shopping at Materials for the Arts.
This professional development workshop is geared towards K-12 teachers. Advanced registration is required and the program costs $25 (Educator Member discounts apply).
Participants will receive 4 CTLE hours. Coffee and a light breakfast will be provided.
