First Friday: Cyanotype & Collage Workshop with Nadia Bongo

Inspired by Designed to Be Red: Native American & Indigenous Poster Works, this cyanotype workshop will invite participants to creatively reflect on the summer or imagine their ideal fall. Working with teaching artist Nadia Bongo, participants will create posters that represent a personal memory or aspiration. The workshop will be hands-on: after a short introduction, participants will learn the cyanotype and collage techniques needed to unleash their creativity and imagination. Participants will leave with a new method of self-expression and a deeper understanding of design.

Nadia Bongo is a teaching artist and translator with a PhD in French literature from Aix-Marseille Universite. A former Brooklyn Poets Fellow, her writing and/or photographs have appeared in African Voices, Litro online, Solstice, The Citron Review, Blue Mesa Review, and elsewhere. Nadia was the September 2025 Teaching Artist in Residence for the Washington Square Park Conservancy. Her co-directed poetry short film, Wandering In Beauty, is on view at the Bronx River Art Center as part of a group exhibition.
