Join Poster House for a hands-on block-printing workshop inspired by the exhibitions Act Black: Posters from Black American Stage & Screen and Love & Fury: New York’s Fight Against AIDS. Artist Mikey Quackenboss will guide visitors through the process of printing bold mini posters using hand-carved blocks and water-based inks.
Participants will have the chance to print from designs inspired by posters featured in the exhibitions, experimenting with color and layering to make their own set of prints.
This drop-in activity is pay-what-you-wish: donations are appreciated and encouraged! Supplies are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Mikey Quackenboss is a Brooklyn-based printmaker and tattoo artist. Drawing on his roots in the DIY-bike-punk scene, he combines traditional American tattoo techniques with linoleum-block printing, using hand-carved stamps to create robust graphic designs.
