Step off the grid and into the wild with designer Zipeng Zhu as he leads a vibrant tour through the museum’s current exhibition, Blazing A Trail: Dorothy Waugh’s National Parks Posters. Explore how Waugh turned mountains into geometry, type into terrain, and color into emotion. From real to flat, from topography to typography, this tour celebrates the courageous design instincts that made Waugh a modernist pioneer. We will be talking about Waugh’s use of geometry, one that was not based on the grid; the incredible range and boldness of her chosen typefaces; and her minimalist approach to color and shape as she created these breathtaking landscape scenes. This tour is an adventure, encouraging you to lose yourself in Dorothy Waugh’s vision of America.
