First Friday: Paper Is Political Workshop with Jo Norris-Gaither

Join Poster House for a hands-on poster making workshop in connection with the exhibition Cuteness, Conservatism, & Consumption: Lefor-Openo and Postwar France. Using kirigami paper-cutting techniques, participants will create bold, vibrant posters in the style of design duo Lefor-Openo that reflect on modern consumerism and today’s turbulent political landscape. Using flat characters, iconography, and landscapes, participants can build their own compositions that speak to the current moment. 

Recommended for ages 13 and up due to the use of cutting tools.

Jo Norris-Gaither is a Black, queer artist predominantly working in ceramic and hand-processed print methods. They use motifs, montages and distortions in their work to challenge the fabrication of historical documentation and memory. 

Accessibility Note: Masks are available free of charge at the museum. Assistive listening devices and stools are available.
