Private Opening Party: Fall Exhibitions!
6–9pm
Poster House members and special guests are invited to celebrate the opening of the museum’s two fall exhibitions: The Future Was Then: The Changing Face of Fascist Italy and Blazing a Trail: Dorothy Waugh’s National Parks Posters.
On loan from the Fondazione Massimo e Sonia Cirulli in Bologna and curated by historian, poet, and photojournalist, B.A. Van Sise, The Future Was Then chronicles the rise of Mussolini and the impact of his Fascist regime on every aspect of Italian life.
Curated by design historian Mark Resnick, Blazing a Trail is the first exhibition dedicated to Dorothy Waugh’s incredible career, one that quite literally introduced our National Park System to the country through posters. Together, these shows demonstrate how posters officially showcased the distinctive images and worldviews of two very different nations during the turbulent decade of the 1930s.
Drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be served. RSVP is required.
Accessibility Note: Masks and clear masks are available free of charge at the museum. Assistive listening devices and stools are available.
