1pm The Royal Tenenbaums Movie Screening
The Anatomy of a Movie Poster: The Work of Dawn Baillie includes some of the most iconic and beloved posters in modern cinematic history. Throughout the exhibition, Poster House will screen a selection of films from the movie-focused exhibition. This Friday, there will be a free screening of Wes Anderson’s classic, The Royal Tenenbaums. The accompanying poster marked the first time Dawn collaborated with the esteemed director, cementing a longstanding partnership that still exists today. Be sure to stop by Café des Affiches for exclusive, themed drinks and snacks to accompany the screening!
3pm The Anatomy of a Movie Poster Curatorial Tour
Join Chief Curator Angelina Lippert for a curatorial tour of the acclaimed exhibition The Anatomy of a Movie Poster: The work of Dawn Baille. Angelina will discuss Dawn Baillie’s involvement with some of the most iconic and beloved posters in modern cinematic history. Learn about the evolution of the production of movie posters through an impressive career that has spanned almost four decades. Questions strongly encouraged!
4pm Stop motion animation workshop-$15
Join teaching artist Paris Baillie for a hands-on introductory workshop to stop-motion animation. Participants will learn the basics of stop-motion animation and work together to create an animated project. Learn how to use simple materials, including clay and smartphones, to create your own stop-motion animations.
7pm Wonder City Moves: A Celebration of Ballroom
Join Poster House for an unforgettable experience exploring the historical context of the fascinating world of ballroom. This one-of-a-kind performance will bridge the gap between our celebrated exhibition Wonder City of the World: New York City Travel Posters and the vibrant underground ballroom culture. Prepare to immerse yourself in a display that traces the influence of ballroom dance moves on iconic figures such as Madonna and the popular shows Pose and Legendary. Curated by Relish and featuring talented dancers from renowned houses like Ebony, Balmain, Mugler, and Revlon, this event promises to be a cultural celebration not to be missed.
