Join Poster House for a Spanish-language tour of Blazing A Trail: Dorothy Waugh’s National Parks Posters.

Dorothy Waugh, whose posters encouraging Americans to travel to the National Parks during the New Deal era have often been overlooked, effectively transformed the image of these officially protected landscapes. Between 1934 and 1936, she designed 17 bold posters that gave the National Park Service its own style, one that clearly distinguished it from those of the railroad companies that dominated domestic travel advertising at the time. Her groundbreaking work marked a turning point in American graphic design, and on this tour you’ll get a close look at the entire series along with archival materials that reveal the story behind their creation.
