The posters of Love & Fury: New York’s Fight Against AIDS document the bold visual language that emerged in response to HIV/AIDS in NYC—but what do posters representing the epidemic beyond the city look like?
Join Registrar Melanie Papathomas and Curator Ian Bradley-Perrin for a behind-the-scenes look at posters from the Poster House Permanent Collection that represent the global AIDS crisis, from Botswana to Estonia.
As we gather in the Storage and Conservation room for an intimate viewing of posters and ephemera, Ian will share insights into the curatorial process and discuss artifacts, perspectives and stories from beyond the era included in the exhibition.
Space is extremely limited. This tour is capped at 12 guests, so reserve soon to guarantee your spot!
Please note: Backpacks, food, and beverages are not allowed in the Storage and Conservation room, and photography is not permitted during the tour. While children 16 and up are welcome, we ask that they are able to follow instructions and behave appropriately in a museum setting, especially given the delicate nature of our archival materials.
Accessibility Note: Masks and clear masks are available free of charge at the museum. Assistive listening devices and stools are available. ASL (American Sign Language) interpretation or a CART (Communication Access Realtime Translation) is also available upon request. Please contact access@posterhouse.org or (914) 295-2387 to request interpretation services and to address any other accessibility needs. For other event-related questions, please contact events@posterhouse.org.
