First Friday: Gel Plate Printing with Sato Yamamoto

Join us at Poster House for a gel-plate printing workshop in which participants will explore the medium through a range of accessible techniques. The session will cover foundational methods using printing ink on paper as well as ways of working with acrylic ink on wet surfaces to build layered compositions. Participants will create textures and patterns using a range of found materials and mark-making tools.
All materials will be provided. No experience is necessary.
Sato Yamamoto is a bilingual Japanese artist born in Meguro, Tokyo, and based in Westchester, New York, whose work draws on diverse cultural influences and traditional ukiyo-e printmaking techniques. She has led workshops at such institutions as the Brooklyn Museum, the New York Public Library, and Poster House, and has served on grants panels for the New York State Council on the Arts.
