Join Poster House on the First Friday of every month for free admission and extended hours! Explore the museum’s latest exhibitions and get in on the fun by attending a tour, workshop, performance, or activity throughout the day. Every First Friday is different, offering unique opportunities to engage with rotating exhibitions and the permanent collection.

1-7pm Drop-In Pride Poster-Making Workshop $10
Celebrate Pride with Poster House! Drop by our Poster History Timeline to customize your very own Pride poster designed by Ezequiel Consoli, aka The Gay Creative. All supplies will be provided, but guests are welcome to bring their own materials to personalize their poster.

1pm Zoolander Screening
The Anatomy of a Movie Poster: The Work of Dawn Baillie includes some of the most iconic and beloved posters in modern cinematic history. Throughout the exhibition, Poster House will screen a selection of films from the movie-focused exhibition. This First Friday, guests will enjoy a free screening of the popular comedy, Zoolander. The iconic poster perfectly captures the film’s hilarity and charm, and is often seen as one of the most unforgettable movie posters of the early 2000s. Be sure to stop by Café des Affiches for exclusive, themed drinks and snacks to accompany the screening!

3pm Wonder City of the World Curatorial Tour
Join poster expert Nicholas Lowry for a curatorial tour of the acclaimed exhibition Wonder City of the World: New York City Travel Posters. Learn how New York City went from a pit stop en route to Saratoga to the vibrant tourist destination it is today. Questions strongly encouraged!

5pm Genius on Display: Sophia Yeshi
Oh Yeshi is! Brooklyn-based illustrator and designer Sophia Yeshi is gracing the halls of Poster House this First Friday. Sophia’s playful practice uniquely captures her identity and experiences while successfully integrating with her client’s vision. Catch this vibrant Genius on Display artist’s talk in-person—questions strongly encouraged.

Sophia Yeshi is a queer, Black & South Asian illustrator and graphic designer based in Brooklyn, NY. She is a digital native who discovered Photoshop at age 12 while growing up in Baltimore, MD. Sophia uses her work to shine a light on Black women, women of color, and folks in the LGBTQIA+ community who are bold, dynamic, and demand attention. Joyful figures, vibrant colors, and organic shapes define her aesthetic. She works with a variety of major brands, including UPS, Adobe, Netflix, Spotify, and Madison Square Garden, creating culturally relevant work centered around topics she’s passionate about—LGBTQIA+ pride, support for underrepresented business owners, and mental health awareness.

6:30pm Miss Poster House NYC
Celebrate Pride at Poster House!! Inspired by the acclaimed exhibition Wonder City of the World: New York City Travel Posters, five drag queens representing each borough will compete to be crowned Miss Poster House NYC 2024! You don’t want to miss this one-of-a-kind competition where the queens will pull out all the stops. Hosted by Junior Mintt and featuring MissMa’amSheVoxigma LoStasi, and Blue!
