In celebration of Art for Art House: The Posters of Peter Strausfeld, Poster House will present a special mini film series on March 20. One of the most influential postwar European films, Andrzej Wajda’s Ashes and Diamonds (1958), unfolds during the final hours of World War II as a young Polish resistance fighter confronts loyalty, morality, and the cost of conflict. The film, with its striking cinematography and emotional weight, reflects the kind of international titles Strausfeld represented so effectively in his poster designs for London’s Academy Cinema.
Be sure to stop by Café des Affiches for themed drinks and snacks to accompany the screening!
