Join Poster House Director of Design & Exhibits, Ola Baldych, for a design-focused tour of the museum’s latest exhibitions, Made in Japan & Black Power to Black People. Learn about the inspirations for these incredible installations and the behind-the-scenes decisions that go into crafting a seamless visitor experience. Questions strongly encouraged!

6:30pm: In-Person Archives Tour
Don’t miss this rare and exclusive opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at Poster House’s permanent collection! Led by Collections Manager Melissa Walker, this intimate tour will give 10 people the chance to explore highlights from the museum’s collection of over 10,000 posters from around the world. Catch sneak previews of upcoming exhibition material, take a peek at recent acquisitions for the Living Archive, and get up close and personal with the museum’s growing collection. 6:30pm: Thermal Paper Art Workshop
This workshop will introduce beginners to the art and technology of thermal paper printing (printing without ink). Learn how to “hack” receipt technology by printing your own receipts and altering existing ones through heat transfer. Participants will also experiment with printmaking techniques, including monotype printing on receipt paper. By the end of this workshop, you will never look at a receipt in the same way again! Members receive 20% off by entering their email at checkout!

Instructor will provide all materials; however, participants will need to download an app on their smartphones for printing.

7pm: Butoh Performance
Poster House is pleased to welcome the New York Butoh Institute for a special performance in honor of the museum’s latest exhibition, Made in Japan: 20th-Century Poster Art. Experience Butoh, the avant-garde dance form born in Japan in the 1950s, in conversation with this vibrant, colorful exhibition. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to witness contemporary Butoh up close!
